Our Vision
Healing Roots Maternal Alliance is a nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing maternal mortality and healthcare disparities among black & brown women during the perinatal and postpartum period.
Through in-home nurse visit programs, community events, local partnerships, & assistance with resources, we aim to raise awareness and drive positive change in maternal healthcare practices.

Our Initiatives
In-Home Nurse Visits for High-Risk Pregnancies
Goal: Reduce complications and improve outcomes for high-risk pregnant individuals.
Activities:
-
Provide regular in-home visits by registered nurses to monitor blood pressure, assess prenatal health, and support early newborn care.

Nurses help detect signs of hypertension or postpartum complications and connect families to additional resources.
Maternal Mental Health & Postpartum Wellness Support
Goal: Address postpartum depression, anxiety, trauma, and stress, with culturally competent, community-based mental health support.
Activities:

Host in-person group therapy sessions led by licensed therapists, particularly therapists of color.

Offer virtual support groups for accessible, stigma-free peer support.

Provide one-on-one telehealth counseling and referrals to perinatal mental health specialists.

Include mental health screenings during prenatal and postpartum visits.
Giving Back to Mothers: Education and Essentials Program
Goal: Support and empower new mothers by meeting practical needs and increasing parenting confidence.
Activities:

Distribute baby essentials (diapers, formula, wipes, car seats, bassinets).

Offer free classes on infant CPR, safe sleep/SIDS prevention, and car seat safety.

Host educational workshops on breastfeeding, postpartum care, and newborn health.

Partner with local businesses and donors for supply drives and giveaways.
